We are honored to care for many of the patients of Dr. David Ryan! 

POINT LOMA FAMILY AND AESTHETICS MEDICAL GROUP
Dr. Ryan and his staff at Point Loma Family and Aesthetics Medical Group over the decades have provided superb care. Their clinic has been entrusted with family healthcare through multiple generations in the community. The team has provided state-of-the-art healthcare, integrating science with the art of medicine, promoting a body-mind-spirit dynamic that empowers the patient in a respectful, personalized, and friendly partnership. The atmosphere is a soothing healing environment with streamlined operations. We hope to follow in their footsteps.

LOCATION
We have moved the clinic Dr. Ryan's original location in Point Loma at 2931 Jarvis Street. The building was historically used as a fishermen headquarters and the decor continues to pay tribute with a theme that is nautical, while much care and consideration went into a  custom redesign of an environment for optimal healing.  With heartfelt gratitude, we echo the announcement that this landmark will continue to serve as a medical home.

PCP TRANSITION
As of 8 Jan 2025, Mercy Physicians Medical Group is currently in the process of officially transferring patients from Dr. Ryan to Dr. Shailam.  Dr. David Ryan and his wife and clinic manager Maribel are a super dynamic duo and we wish them a happy retirement.  Dr. Ryan is the best doctor, which is why I too was his patient, and sympathize with you regarding with the loss of our doctor.  Although the special therapeutic relationship you had with your doctor is coming to a close, your access to health care will continue.  You have the option to choose another contracted PCP listed on your insurance website. 

SERVICES
We do not provide controlled substances.  However, we would do so temporarily or help you wean down in conjunction with alternatives as you await referral to a Psychiatrist/Pain/etcetera specialist.  Also, we would prescribe if terminal illness or fracture.  We emphasize/coach lifestyle optimization and behavioral modification with non-controlled Rx.  If you choose not to wean down, we would refer you to Psychiatry/Pain.  Any weaning down is recommended gradually, especially when high dependence/dose.  For those who are open, we have witnessed success.   As of 1 Jan 2025, doctors are required prior to dispensing to discuss opioid risk.
We do not provide aesthetics (botox/filler).  Dr. Ryan will still come in for this every 3 months. 
Otherwise, rest assured my core values align with your current physician and I am here to pick up the navigation for your smooth sailing, captain!

HMO
Effective 1 January 2025, Dr. Ryan's HMO patient panel will be transferred over to me via our mutual Independent Practice Association (IPA) Mercy Physicians Medical Group (MPMG) so you will be able to keep the same specialists.

DIFFERENT ENTITY
Although we will be in the same building, we have a different clinic called Sun Health Medical Clinic, Inc. so will not have access to your medical records without your authorization so we will provide a form that you may sign for your convenience.

STAFF
Dr. Ryan's staff Michelle and Rebecca will still be here for your continuity in health advocacy.  My medical assistant Danny (previously known as Jorge) is also a fitness instructor so you may talk with him about exercise.
